H.C. Brown's Guest this weekend is Margie Church + Book giveaway

Please welcome the talented Margie Church to my blog this weekend.

Tangled Up Genres?
My ninth romance came out last week and I sat back and smiled, because I'd also finished writing my tenth the same day. Every author needs to get that pipeline filled – to create a backlist so when you finally build a fan base, reader have more of your books to go back and nab…cuz you're so damn good. LOL What's this got to do with tangled up genres?
I write all kinds of romances. I have a pair of romantic suspense, two paranormals (vampires), two hot het, one sizzling man love, a scorching BDSM romance, and one utterly romantic ghost story. All of them are erotic except the ghost story. That one is sensual.
Humm…am I a psycho author?
Maybe. A couple years ago, I worried that leaving a sub-genre (suspense at the time) might make it difficult for readers to get to know me. Like it or not, many readers read predominantly one subgenre and if you're not in that one, you might never meet. But I couldn't squelch the stories in my head or stop the ones flying off my fingertips. So I wrote the books I dreamed about with all the passion and care I could muster. With each new book, I became a stronger writer and got faster at it.
The thing I was afraid of most, never happened. People found me anyway. While they may have started with the vampire books, they liked them so well they went to read others that weren't vampire books. And now reviewers are saying, "I'll read anything she writes."
How gratifying is that? How humbling is that?
As an author, sometimes we are afraid to branch out because the market may not like us in a new subgenre. Maybe the subgenre isn't very hot right now and we won't have good sales. Should that stop you from writing that book? Realistically, I worried about that with my new ghost story, Nopeming Shores. Everything else I've written is erotic and very plot driven. My new gay and BDSM romances are extremely different than this book. Should I write it and risk a dud? Hell yes! The story is so emotionally gripping I couldn't take it some days. Laced with poetry, it's so romantic you have to have a heart of stone not to sigh. But will it sell? I don't know, but I couldn't ignore the story because it "might not." It could turn into a Lifetime Movie. It could be a dust collector. But isn't that the risk we take on every book we write?
Do you really want to tape your muse's mouth shut? Is creative frustration good for your career? Put your fears and the tape in the drawer and dive into the story you've been afraid to write. Take your time finding subject matter experts and building bulletproof characters I'll never forget. I think you'll find the challenge invigorating to your muse and your backlist.
I have two fantastic new books out. Please take a look at them and all my backlist. Everything is conveniently located on my Amazon page.

In The Hot Seat With HC today is author Heather Peters

   Welcome to my blog.
It's a pleasure to be with you!

Q. First of all where are you from?

A. I'm from New York City, and have lived here all my life.

Q. What do you write?

A. I write sensual and erotic romance for Noble Romance publishing, Red Sage Press, and Freya's Bower.

Q. What do you want your readers to take away from your books?

A.  A sense of satisfaction that they've enjoyed my story, that I was able to make them escape from real life for a few hours. I would hope that they would like to read more of my work. I'd like to live up to my readers expectations, and be able to present quality, passionate stories in every book I write.

Q. If you could live in any place or in any realm or time where could we find you?

A.  Probably in my family's hometown of Naples, Italy in a vineyard, living in a villa, sipping homemade wine.

Q. What qualities do you instill in your hero?

A.  A sense of humor for one; tenderness, a deep seated love for the heroine, and a sense of integrity and honor. I also love my Alpha hero from Surrender.

Q. What inspires you to write?

A.  It could be a song, a book I've read, a conversation I've heard, or a movie I'm watching.

Q. Do you write when the Muse calls or do you write the same time every day?

A.  I write when I have the time. There's no set hour of the day or night.

Q. What are your current projects?

A.  Right now I'm working on a paranormal erotic romance novella, and early next year, an EroRom fantasy trilogy with fellow author Angela Aaron.

Q. Can you tell us a little about your latest release?

Blurb: Annie DeRosa is a savvy, brilliant, music producer who lives and works in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She is the best at what she does and devotes her waking hours to her work.

Music icon and 80s superstar Dane Franklyn, a fiercely independent musician, is extremely possessive of his material. His music company has given him literally hours to write a title song for his upcoming album. He's never allowed anyone to share the load, until now. Finding himself in a bind, he's come to the conclusion he needs help. But when that help comes in the petite fiery form of the sexy, smart Annie, the sparks start to fly.

The sexual tension crackles from their first meeting and gradually elevates into an all-out inferno by the time they begin working together in the studio. Being stubborn individuals, their personalities soon clash, and Dane and Annie agree to disagree. But music creates a language and sexuality all its own, driving them both to discover a passion and desire neither have ever known.

You Gotta Read Review for Forbidden Love

Review – Forbidden Love By Stormy Glenn, HC Brown, Anna O’Neill and Alesandr Voinov

Forbidden Love
Title: Forbidden Love
Author: Stormy Glenn, HC Brown, Anna O’Neill and Alesandr Voinov
Publisher: Noble Romance Publishing
Rating: You Need to Read
Reviewer: Nerine Dorman

Forbidden, by H.C. Brown
England 1075—Sir Renoir Danier finds himself in an intolerable situation when he is ordered by King William to marry an elderly Spanish countess. Five years earlier, he met the great love of his life, Sir Sebastian. This deeply sensual dark angel taught him all that a man could give to another. Renoir became a slave to his erotic punishment. After a month of bliss, Sebastian sailed to Spain. Will he return or leave Renoir with a shattered heart?

As far as hot man-on-man action goes, very little gets as hot as this collection of short stories.
HC Brown's Forbidden pretty much knocked my socks off. Not only was the dialogue in this case witty, but the characterisations memorable. I was immediately engaged in Renoir’s dilemma and, although his eventual encounter wasn’t much of a surprise, I still enjoyed watching events unfold very much.

This tight collection gets a definite thumbs up from me, even if I’m not a regular reader of m/m action. Well realized, gritty and full of impact, I was definitely left breathless and wanting more.

What a week!

Having a good week....although waiting for things to happen is not  good.

I hate waiting......this week I have been waiting  for everything ......I'm going nuts....all that writing time wasted LOL

On the bright side, my paranormal WIP is going well, yesterday I pulled down the first eleven chapters and enhanced  the story.... this is something I do a lot....I'm never satisfied until the M/S sings to me. The story is about half way  and my hero is coping with everything I throw at far.

Well off for a walk  to shake out the cobwebs......hmmm cobwebs....spiders....oh damn there's another story...LOL
